Drunk Delhites vs Harmless Amplifiers

If you have no clue what the title suggests then you probably have the genetic constitution of a chihuahua and were probably jerking off to pornos all Friday afternoon and evening and would have carried on till late night if it wasn’t for biological constraints.

Anyway, before I continue, let us take a look at this…

There are two dominant communities in India- Vandals and Vegetables. All of us secretly wish to belong to the former, but most of us end up being the latter. Friday belonged to the Vandals though. They reaffirmed the world’s image of India as a trash can. So let us have a round of applause for those brave men!

Now the common excuse floating around for yesterday’s mayhem is that the organizers, DNA networks played foul with the audience. That Metallica didn’t want to play in Delhi in the first place itself. That this was all a part of a conspiracy to screw the Dilliwallahs and rob them off their money. My advice to all these dumbnuts is that they should make a roll of all these conspiracy theories and shove it up their butt holes. So much farting from the mouth has rendered them useless anyway!

Read this post and you’ll get an idea how fucked up the average Indian’s thinking process can get. Seriously, the guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. So better don’t read that post and continue reading this one.

This was certainly not the first time in the history of the world that a rock show was postponed at the 11th hour due to a technical glitch. These kind of things happen all the time. The excuse that the Metallica crew’s insulting behaviour triggered the reaction from the crowd is stupid. You seriously want me to believe that a generation that has grown up on adopting cuss words from all languages, a generation where mothers and sisters are referred to in every other sentence, a generation that makes a movie like Delhi Belly a runaway hit,  got offended just because a firangi allegedly used the F word while addressing them? Horse shit would taste better than this crap!

Neither Metallica nor the organizers had asked the crowd to get high on dope and alcohol. They didn’t ask the Gurgaon police to stay a zillion light years away from the venue either. And yes, neither of them instilled the I-can-trash-anything-coz-I’m-a-fucking-angry-Delhite attitude in the crowd. And those of you who are complaining that the security at the venue was low, it was a frigging rock concert, not a UN Convention on International Affairs, you moron! If you can’t manage yourself, don’t expect others to change your diapers for you.

Guys were throwing amplifiers off the stage and then thumping their chest like king-fucking-kongs! The crowd was leading them on with chants of ‘Drop,Drop,Drop’! They were ripping off the wires, stands and paraphernalia worth lakhs and somehow in this entire process they attained a sense of satisfaction. And revenge. And paisa-wasooli too, which by the way is one of the prime principles of the Indian way of living. Nobody seems to notice that. Everybody is saying the people got screwed, the junta is the victim. What kind of victim trashes its victimizer? Those guys were enjoying what they were doing. In fact it looked like they were happy things turned out the way they did. Because had Metallica actually performed, they wouldn’t have understood a word of it (being oblivious to English) but now they got to do all the good things in life- dope, riot and later on banging their arm candy chics!

And as for a concert, the usual Mika gigs happen all the year round. What’s the big deal?

The latest news is that 4 of the organizers have been arrested on charges of cheating. What about the vandals? Those ass wipes have tarnished the image of the Indian rock fans all over the world. Who would like to perform in a country where people need an excuse to start a riot?

Those that were present at Leisure Valley Park yesterday were not metal heads, they were shit heads! And shit heads deserve no rock concert.

  1. sorry for the offensive language but i wud like to maintain a stand that at least 60 %of iitians are lyk that and the rest are delhiites or from one of the metropolitan cities :P:P … on a serious note what i fell having frnz in almost every engg college that the mentality of iitians has been mended in such a way that in the end they all come down to one thing -money but let us rmbr money cant buy love though it can buy u a proffesional adult worker…

  2. Bhai the thing is that when everybody got there, they realized the stage was set at a very low height. Even the screens were verrry low! you could not see shit on stage if you were beyond 80-100 meters from stage. In any rock concert, anywhere in the world, if the screens are high enuf for the people in the back to see it properly, the crowd is happy and does manage itself pretty well. I have attended the first ever Iron maiden gig in India at palace grounds bangalore and I would be very confident about this.

But this was not the case here. Like myself, who came traveling from much longer distances to Delhi to see the concert, people had come all the way from Singapore and Malaysia. Imagine being outside the ground for more than 48 hrs, finally getting inside and realizing the stage is not proper. That is when most of the crowd tried to move to the front, due to which the front left barricade gave away and the repairs to it were not satisfactory and which delayed things further. And finally to postponing the show which also was random and not planned out well coz the authorities did not give permission for the next day at such short notice. So I guess its wrong on your part to not throw light on anything which was wrong on the organizer’s part. The stage was worse than a good college’s fest stage for battle of bands or anything. Delhi is the place which has been hosting the Great Indian Rock since ages now. And if this was the first major metal act in Delhi, the organizers should have done their homework on how these things go about and how these things are different than a lady gaga concert in Delhi. Yes the crowd was high. Obviously it got angry. The exact remark of the poor guy who was forced to hold the mic and represent the organizer was “Please don’t take panic. Kal aana… concert kal hoga.” was bad enough to hurt our feelings.

Don’t take this personally I know you are a teetotaler (I read ur other post). But you must have friends who would just light up a joint and listen to “floyd” or “the who” or “led zeppelin”. These are known as genuine, harmless trips. I know i cannot justify this but many would agree with me. you can never experience it yourself coz you have never tried exploring it out. So there were people there that day who had come solely for a genuine trip and the bliss of having a trip after a joint or two and listen to metallica play live. nothing more than that. The anger to some extent was justified. But I would never believe for a second that the organizers knew even shit about metal and metal fans and metal mobs. Goggle whats a “mosh pit”, that phenomenon has been around since the 70s since before thrash metal became a mainstream act. Those are not people who are angry. They are living the thrash metal culture the way it should be lived. The way the lyrics and the music inspires them and is meant to inspire them. I agree that they relate to it more because the musicians and they themselves have evolved from situations and things like the vietnam war, gulf war, economic struggle and everything and even though some of them could be posers, rest are true fans. That, cannot be compared or thought of in the Indian context coz culturally, we reflect a totally different world. bollywood, punjabi bhangra and stuff like that. But now there is such a big non-commercial rock scene emerging in India that writes about and sings about whats actually going on and that has managed to bring out and utilize the best talents that are out there. Such were the people who had come to see the concert. And such were the people who had tears when everything came thrashing down that evening.

You are a good writer and and i love the way you write, thats the only reason that i am taking the pain of communicating this to you and writing this down coz otherwise i simply would not have bothered, but as a guy with a blues heart and a metal head and a musician since almost 7 yrs now, i would disagree with you on this write up.

Hope you’ll understand the emotions involved regarding what happened that evening.

    Peace \/
